Frequently Asked Questions
How old does my child need to be to start motocross?
Your child can start riding a full sized big wheel 50cc motocross bike from the age of 6. Prior to this they can ride 12 inch or 16 inch electric bike from age 3 or a PW50 or small wheel 50cc automatic from age 5. They must be their eligible age on the 1st January of that year to be eligible to race.
How do I get my child started?
To get your child started you must join a Nora affiliated club. Contact the 555 Promotions Facebook page or go on the Nora website here to find out more about obtaining a licence. If you don't want to take a full Nora annual licence out you can pay £10 for a day licence at each individual event.
What do I need to start racing?
First and foremost you need a bike. Complete beginners can start on pw50's, KTM mini's, electric 12 inch or 16 inch bikes or similar, and older kids should get in touch and we will advise on what machinery is required for your age. After you have a bike you need safety equipment. Our requirements for racing is a European Standard (22.05 ECE) approved helmet, motocross boots, goggles, gloves, motocross jersey, trousers and under garment body armour. Most riders also wear knee braces, elbow protection and a neck brace. All of your protective clothing and equipment should fit perfectly so it is fit for purpose.
Do I need to complete every round?
No. You can complete as few or as many rounds as you wish but to be in with the chance of being crowned champion and winning some amazing prizes for your age group you should complete every round.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. We are fully insured under Sports Insure and you will race with a Nora Motorsport race licence available from your local Nora club or Nora website.
How do I pay for my child to race?
On the Dates & Booking page you will find a link to the forms to be downloaded to enter and pay. This form is very simple and just asks for emergency contact details, what machine capacity you want to ride and what number you would like. We take payment for all race events in advance via bank transfer or PayPal. This is so that we can pay the track owners, insurance company and track preparation companies to ensure each track is in prime condition prior to each race event. Each track is prepared by a professional groundworks company so you can be assured of the best racing experience for your child.
